The basics
What ozone therapy actually is
Ozone is medical-grade oxygen with an extra atom attached — O₃ instead of O₂ — generated fresh on site and given to you within seconds of being made. In major autohemotherapy, the form most of this page is about, a small amount of your own blood is drawn, mixed with that oxygen–ozone blend, and returned to you through the same closed line.

One price per treatment. Sessions of one to four passes run about 30 minutes; five passes and up run about an hour. Packages of six treatments are available and are specific to your pass count — ask at your visit.

A polychromatic light unit added to a hyperbaric ozone session. Blood passes a cuvette and is exposed to several wavelengths — ultraviolet through visible. Adds about five minutes.

The research
What the studies actually found.
Ozone has a real research literature. It is also uneven, and some of the strongest-sounding claims made for it are the ones with the least behind them. Here is the honest map.

Best supported
Knee osteoarthritis · chronic wounds and diabetic foot ulcers
A 2024 level I meta-analysis found intra-articular ozone gave pain control comparable to hyaluronic acid, a standard injection, between four and six months. Separate systematic reviews in wound-care journals reported faster wound-area improvement and a lower amputation rate versus standard care — while noting a considerable risk of bias in the underlying trials.

Early but real
Systemic major autohemotherapy
Pilot randomised controlled trials, not large phase III trials. In one 2024 trial, 71% of patients receiving ozone autohemotherapy alongside conventional care met the response threshold versus 45% on conventional care alone. That is a genuine result from a small study, and it is described here as exactly that.
